ROADS ACT 1993 TO 2015– SECTION 75 

 

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF VARIOUS ROADS IN DONABATE, CO DUBLIN 

 

 

An application has been received from LSA Athletics Club, for permission to temporarily close various roads in Donabate, to allow for the LSA Peninsula 4-Mile race to take place. It is proposed that the roads will be closed from 07:00am to 11:30am on Sunday, 21st May 2023. 

 

Roads are closed for vehicle access in and out of the following sections of the Peninsula during the race.  Emergency Vehicles and events which are regarded as emergencies will be facilitated at all times by race marshals.  

The following roads will be affected by the race and road closures will be as follows:    

  • 9.00am – 11.00am - Section of Donabate Distributor Road from the Hearse Road to 100m east of Kilcrea Junction.   

  • 09:00am – 11:00 am - Corballis Cottages Road 09:15am – 11:00 am - Corballis Road   

  • 09:30am – 11:00am - Section of New Road from the junction of the Corballis Road to the junction with the Donabate Distributor Road   

  • 09:00am – 11:00am - New Road / Donabate Distributor Road Junction to Corabllis Cottages Road Entrance  

  • 07:00am – 11:30am – A section the Donabate Distributor Road from the R126   junction with the Hearse Road to the junction with the New Road.  

  • 09:00am – 11:00am A lane closure will be in effect along the Hearse Road.  Traffic will be managed under a stop and go operation to enable the safe crossing for event participants. 

  

Closure times are approximate and maybe subject to change.  

  

Alternative routes available for vehicular traffic are as follows, dependant on direction of travel.   

  

FOR TRAFFIC ARRIVING TO DONABATE / PORTRANE:  

  • The two main entrance roads into the Donabate Portrane Peninsula are the Hearse Road (R126) and Turvey Avenue.   

  • For motorists entering the Peninsula via The Hearse Road (R126), motorists will still be able to travel along the Hearse road.   However, a lane closure will be in effect and traffic will be managed under a stop and go operation between 9am and 11am 

  • For motorists entering via Turvey Avenue this road will remain unaffected and motorists can gain direct access to Donabate Village and Portrane.  

   

FOR TRAFFIC WITHIN THE DONABATE VILLAGE / PORTRANE AREA:  

  • Donabate Village and Portrane will be unaffected by road closures  

  • The section of the Donabate Distributor Road from the traffic lights joining the Hearse Road, to the junction of the Donabate Distributor Road and the New Road will be closed from 7.00am until 11.30am.  

  • Corballis Cottages Road will be closed from 9.00am until 11.00am.  

  • The Corballis Road will be closed from 9.15am until 11:00am.  

  • The section of the New Road from the junction with the Corballis Road to the junction with the Donabate Distributor Road will be closed from 9.30am until 11:00am.

    Local access for Emergency Services will be made available in the event of an emergency. 

 

Fingal County Council regrets any inconvenience caused in relation to this matter. 

 

 

Any person may lodge an objection online through this Consultation Portal, or in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Balbriggan/Rush-Lusk/Swords Operational Area, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, to arrive no later than 12.00 noon the 26th of April 2023

All comments, including the names of those making comments, submitted to the Council in regard to this Temporary Road Closure will form part of the statutory report to be presented to the monthly meeting of Fingal County Council.  

Accordingly, the statutory report will list the persons or bodies who made submissions or observations with respect to the proposed Temporary Road Closure in accordance with the regulations of the Road Traffic Act 1994.The submissions will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will appear on the Council’s Website. By making a submission the name of individuals or bodies will appear on the statutory report and minutes of the meeting.
