TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF R128  LOUGHSHINNY CROSS TO BALLYKEA CO. DUBLIN

 

An application has been received from Lagan Construction for permission to temporarily close the R128, from Loughshinny Cross northwards to Ballykea, Co Dublin for the purpose of roads resurfacing on behalf of Fingal County Council. It is proposed that the road will be closed for night works from 8:00pm to 6:00am Mondays to Fridays during the period 3rd May 2023 to 2nd June 2023.

No works shall take place on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Alternative routes available for vehicular traffic are as follows, dependant on direction of travel.

Northbound: Traffic approaching L-1285/ R128 junction at Loughshinny Cross will be diverted left onto the L-1285. Continue along L-1285 until the L-1285/ R127 junction and take the right onto the R127. Continue on the R127 following the diversion signs until the first roundabout after the railway bridge where there are two options; (a) take the 1st exit and continue on the R127 past the junction with the R128 (R127 also known as the Balbriggan Road at this junction) and continue straight on the R128 until it meets the Skerries Monument. Traffic will be diverted right remaining on the R128 (R128 also known as Strand Street). Traffic will continue, following the diversion signs until reaching the junction with the R128/ Shenick Road, ending the diversion route; or (b) take the 2nd exit and continue along Shenick Road until reaching the junction with the R128, ending the diversion route.

Southbound (coming from R128): Traffic approaching the Shenick Road/ R128 junction will be diverted right onto Shenick Road. Continue on Shenick Road until the roundabout and take the 1st exit onto the R127. Continue on the R127, following the diversion signs until the L-1285/ R127 junction and take the left onto the L-1285. Traffic will continue along the L-1285 until the junction with the R-128, ending the diversion route.

Southbound (coming from Shenick Road): Traffic approaching the Shenick Road/ R128 junction from Shenick Road will divert left onto the R128.  Continue on the R128 (R128 also known as Strand Street) until reaching the Skerries Monument where traffic will be diverted left on the R128 and straight past the junction with the R127. Continue straight on the R127 until the roundabout before the railway bridge where traffic will be diverted to take the 2nd exit onto the R127. Traffic to continue on the R127, following the diversion signs until reaching the L-1285/ R127 junction where it will take the left onto the L-1285. Traffic will continue along the L-1285 until the junction with the R-128, ending the diversion route.

 

Due to height restrictions on the diversion route public transport buses only, will be allowed to pass through the section of road that is closed for the duration of these works.  

Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times. Access for Emergency Services will also be made available.

Fingal County Council regrets any inconvenience caused in relation to this matter.

 

Any person may lodge an objection online through the Consultation Portal, at https://consult.fingal.ie, or in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Balbriggan/Rush-Lusk/Swords Operational Area, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, to arrive no later than 12.00 noon the 5th of April 2023.

All comments, including the names of those making comments, which are submitted to the Council regarding this Temporary Road Closure will form part of the statutory report to be presented to the monthly meeting of Fingal County Council.

 

Accordingly the statutory report will list the persons or bodies who made submissions or observations with respect to the proposed Temporary Road Closure in accordance with the regulations of the Road Traffic Act 1994.

 

The submissions will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will appear on the Council’s Website. By making a submission the name of individual or bodies will appear on the statutory report and minutes of the meeting.
