Electric Vehicle Car Share - Expression of Interest

Closed28 Feb, 2023, 4:46pm - 21 Apr, 2023, 11:59pm

Fingal County Council is considering the expansion of a car-share scheme for Fingal with a number of operators.

This service would provide qualified drivers with low cost, short term access to a climate friendly e-car in their local area when they need it.

Benefits:

  • Gives people an alternative to owning a car and reduces the need for multiple cars in one household

  • Provides cleaner air for your community with no carbon emissions

  • Provides affordable access to an electric vehicle

  • Helps improve traffic congestion by reducing overall number of cars on roads

To help us estimate demand for electric car-share we want to know if you'd like to see the service made available in your area.

It takes less than 1 minute to fill out the form below. Thank you for your time.

What is Car-Sharing?

There are private car-share schemes in operation in some areas of Ireland. You sign up to the service via an app, validate your driving licence and pay a set fee per kilometre for the use of the car. You use an app to unlock and lock the car and you usually take and return it to a single location in your local area.

Car-share schemes are used to bridge the gap when people need the use of a car for short periods or specific tasks. For example, you may use public transport for your daily commute but occasionally need a car to bring home shopping or visit friends in a nearby area not served by bus or train.
