ROADS ACT 1993  TO 2015– SECTION 75 

 

 

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RAILWAY STREET, BALBRIGGAN, CO DUBLIN 

 

 

The Active Travel Department, in conjunction with Our Balbriggan and the Environment Department are seeking permission to temporarily close Railway Street, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin for the purpose of a Climate Action Event. It is proposed that the road will be closed 21st October 2023 from 7:00am to 7:00pm. 

 

Alternative routes available for vehicular traffic are as follows, dependant on direction of travel.   

 

Traffic travelling to Balbriggan Train Station from Drogheda Street towards Bridge Street: 

Continue on Drogheda Street to the junction with Quay Street, turn left onto Quay Street and continue to the Junction with Harbour Road and turn left. Continue to the Junction with Seapoint Lane, then turn left around Balbriggan viaduct to the Junction with Mill Street and Georges Hill. Continue straight on to Georges Hill to the Junction with Railway Street then turn right, ending the Diversion Route. 

  

Traffic Travelling to Balbriggan Train Station from Main Street Balbriggan towards Drogheda Street: 

Continue on Bridge Street to the Junction with Quay Street and turn right. Continue on Quay Street to the junction with Harbour Road then turn left and continue to the Junction with Seapoint Lane. Turn left around Balbriggan viaduct to the Junction with Mill Street and Georges Hill and continue straight on to Georges Hill to the Junction with Railway Street, then turn right, ending the Diversion Route. 

 

Local access will be maintained at all times. Emergency Services access will also be made available in the event of an emergency. 

 

Fingal County Council regrets any inconvenience caused in relation to this matter. 

 

Any person may lodge an objection online through the Consultation Portal, at https://consult.fingal.ie, or in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Balbriggan/Rush-Lusk/Swords Operational Area, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, to arrive no later than 12.00 noon on 5th October 2023.

All comments, including the names of those making comments, which are submitted to the Council regarding this Temporary Road Closure will form part of the statutory report to be presented to the monthly meeting of Fingal County Council.  

 

Accordingly the statutory report will list the persons or bodies who made submissions or observations with respect to the proposed Temporary Road Closure in accordance with the regulations of the Road Traffic Act 1994. 

 

The submissions will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will appear on the Council’s Website. By making a submission the name of individual or bodies will appear on the statutory report and minutes of the meeting.
