Fingal County Council proposes to close R109 Lower Road Lucan for a period of 15 days between 1st October 2023 and 15th November 2023, for the purposes of Road Resurfacing. Exact dates will be notified locally and posted on social media when finalised. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
R109 will be closed from junction with Knockmaroon Road/Tower Road to the junction at Lucan Bridge/Laraghcon for the full period of 15 days. Resurfacing works will be phased as follows:
Section 1 – Road closure from the junction at Knockmaroon Road/Tower Road (Anglers Rest end) to Strawberry Hall.
Section 2 – Road closure from a point west of the junction of Rugged Lane/Lower Road to the junction of Tinker’s Hill/Lower Road.
Section 3 – Road closure from the junction of Laraghcon Road/Lower Road (at Chadwicks) to the junction of Lucan Bridge/Lower Road.
Section 4 – Road closure for patching and lining from Lower Road at Strawberry Hall heading west to a point past the junction of Rugged Lane/Lower Road.
For the 15 day period of the road closure, diversions are as follows:
From Chapelizod: Use Knockmaroon Hill, Tower Road and either College Road (to R806 Castleknock/Blanchardstown) or Carpenterstown Road to Coolmine/Clonsilla or Diswellstown Road to Porterstown, Ongar, Westmanstown.
From Lucan: Lucan Bridge, Laraghcon, L3004 Clonee Road, to right turn onto Westmanstown Road (R121) and left turn at Marymount, Westmanstown Road to Porterstown.
Signage will be in place at (1) Knockmaroon Road/Tower Road/Lower Road junction; (2) Lucan Bridge junction; (3) Porterstown Road/Somerton Lane junction; (4) Porterstown Road/Rugged Lane junction; (5) Westmanstown Road (R121) at Marymount junction; (6) Tinker’s Hill (R121) / Lower Road Junction.
Objections or submissions on the proposed Temporary Road Closure at R109 Lower Road Lucan between 1st October 2023 and 15th November 2023, can be made online through the Consultation Portal http://consult.fingal.ie or alternatively in writing to Administrative Officer, Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart/Castleknock/Ongar Operational Area, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 to arrive no later than 5pm Friday 15th September 2023.

Accordingly, the statutory report will list the persons or bodies who made submissions or observations with respect to the proposed Temporary Road Closure in accordance with the regulations of the Road Traffic Act 1994.
The submissions will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will appear on the Council’s Website. By making a submission the name of individual or bodies will appear on the statutory report and minutes of the meeting.
