ROADS ACT 1993 TO 2023– SECTION 75 

 

 

PROPOSED TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF VARIOUS ROADS IN GARRISTOWN, CO. DUBLIN 

 

 

An application has been received from Garristown Community Council for permission to temporarily close various roads in the Garristown area for the purpose of holding a fundraising 5km and 10km run. It is proposed that the roads will be closed from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Sunday 7th April 2024.  

 

 

The roads in question are: 

 

  •  R-130 from its junction with the L1006 Ardcath Rd, to the junction with the (L1020) Head Rd. 

  •  L-1030 Ashbourne/Windmill Road from its junction with L5025 Plucky Lane to the R130 . 

  •  L5040 Garristown to Adamstown Road/Hill Road. 

  • Baldwinstown road from its junction with the R130 Nutstown Cross to Baldwinstown (Cross), junction with the R130. 

  • Lousy Bush Lane to its junction with Wyestown Road. 

  • Wyestown Road from its junction with Lousy Bush Lane to its junction with Baldwinstown Rd. 

 

Alternative routes available for vehicular traffic are as follows: 

 

  • Motorists travelling from the north of Garristown to Oldtown, Naul Village, Ballyboughal, Lusk, Rolestown or Swords, should turn left on to Naul Rd Road R122 and continue to the R108. 

 

From Naul Village: 

  • For Ballyboughal, motorists should continue along the R-108. 

  • For Oldtown, motorists should turn right onto the R-122. 

  • For Swords and Rolestown, motorists should continue along the R-108 to the junction of the R-125, turning left onto the R-125 for Swords or right for Rolestown. 

  • For Balbriggan, motorists should turn left onto the R122. 

  • Motorists travelling from the north of Garristown to Ashbourne, should turn right onto Church Rd L1005, and continue to its junction with the N2 and then left onto the N2 for Ashbourne. 

  • Motorists wishing to access areas further north of Garristown may use the M2/N2, R-152 and Flemington Road ( This is the L1616. It runs northwards from the Three Gates Garden Centre on the Naul Balbriggan road up towards Four Knocks. A left turn will bring you west past the Four Knocks (L1617) and to Cloghertown.) from the Ashbourne direction. Alternatively, from the Naul direction, motorists should take the R-108 northbound and turn left onto Flemington Road. 

  • Motorists traveling from Ashbourne L1030 to the north of Garristown should turn left on to Pucky Lane L5025 and continue to junction with L1005, turn right as far as the L1006, turn left for Ardcath, or turn right and left after 100 m on to the R130 if travelling to Naul/Balbriggan. 

  • Motorists travelling from Swords to the north of Garristown, on the R130 continue past Nutstown Cross and take the next left on to Head Rd, L1020. Continue on Head Rd to Snipestown Cross, junction with the L1030, take a right at the cross and continue on the L1030 to Pucky Lane L5025, turn left and continue on Pucky Lane to the Crossroads at the end. Turn right for Garristown L1005 and continue to the junction with Main St, L1006. Turn left for Ardcath L1006 or turn right and left after 100 m on to the R130 if travelling to Naul/Balbriggan. 

Alternative route from Lousy Bush Roads and Wyestown:  

  • Continue eastwards on to Grallagh Rd, turn left up to Springhill Cross R108, for Balbriggan/Naul and turn right for the R130 to Palmerstown & Swords R130. 

Pedestrians, Emergency Vehicles and local access will be facilitated by local marshals. 

Diversion signage and marshals will be in place for the duration of the closure. 

 

Any person may lodge an objection online through the Consultation Portal, at https://consult.fingal.ie, or in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Balbriggan, Rush-Lusk, Swords Operational Area, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, to arrive no later than 12.00pm on Friday 14th of March 2024.

All comments, including the names of those making comments, which are submitted to the Council regarding this Temporary Road Closure will form part of the statutory report to be presented to the monthly meeting of Fingal County Council.  

 

Accordingly the statutory report will list the persons or bodies who made submissions or observations with respect to the proposed Temporary Road Closure in accordance with the regulations of the Road Traffic Act 1994. 

 

The submissions will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will appear on the Council’s Website. By making a submission the name of individual or bodies will appear on the statutory report and minutes of the meeting.
