Primary tabs

Fingal County Council is carrying out a review of the Record of Protected Structures to consider new additions to the record and amendments to a small number of existing entries.

This review is under a separate but concurrent process to that of the Review of the Draft Fingal Development Plan 2023–2029. During the two periods of public display for the Draft Development Plan 2023-2029 public submissions were received proposing changes to the Record of Protected Structures. These have been taken into account and were assessed as part of the current review of the Record.

Additions to the Record of Protected Structures must be of sufficient special interest under one or more of the eight criteria set out in Section 54(1)(a) the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended). These criteria are Architectural Interest, Historical Interest, Archaeological Interest, Artistic Interest, Cultural Interest, Scientific Interest, Technical Interest and Social Interest. A Planning Authority may add or delete a structure to/from the RPS during the County Development Plan process or under the provisions of Sections 54 and 55 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended).

Details of the proposed additions and amendments to Fingal’s Record of Protected Structures are provided in the Materials Section to the right.

Written submissions or observations in respect of the proposed additions or amendments to the Record of Protected Structures should be made before 4.30pm on Friday 23rd December 2022 through one of the following methods:

  • Online consultation portal   https://consult.fingal.ie/
