Public Consultation on draft Segregation, Storage and Presentation of Household and Commercial Waste Bye-laws 2020

Fingal County Council, pursuant to Section 35(1) of the Waste Management Act 1996 and in accordance with Part 19 of the Local Government Act 2001, intends to make the following Bye-Laws: Segregation, Storage and Presentation of Household and Commercial Waste Bye-Laws, 2020.

 

The purpose of the Waste Presentation Bye-Laws is to:

 

  1. Revise the existing Waste Presentation Bye-Laws 2006 which are out of date due to changes in National Law

 

  1. Encourage greater participation in waste collection services

 

  1. Maximise the quantity and quality of recyclable waste collected.

 

A Fixed Payment Notice (FPN) of €75 can be issued to anyone found to have contravened the Waste Presentation Bye-Laws. A person found guilty in relation to contravention of the Waste Presentation Bye-Laws shall be liable to a penalty of no more than €2,500. 

 

A copy of the proposed text of the Waste Presentation Bye-Laws will be available for public Inspection at http://consult.fingal.ie/en/browse or at Fingal County Council, County Hall, Main Street, Swords, Co. Dublin from 22nd October to 25th November, 2019 between the hours of 10:00am to 16:00pm (Monday to Friday).

 

A copy of the draft Waste Presentation Bye-Laws will be provided to any person applying for it. Fingal County Council will consider any submissions in relation to the draft Waste Presentation Bye-Laws which are submitted either online through the website https://consult.fingal.ie/en/browse or in writing to the Environment Department, Fingal County Council, by any person on or before 4th December, 2019.
