Main opinions

The current access route to the site from the Rush / Skerries road opposite St. Catherines Estate needs to be greatly improved by having the current surface levelled out or have the route over laid with stone filling our other material that will make the site more accessible. Signage at the main access route opposite St. Catherines Estate needs to be erected as a priority to notify the public of the location and of the history of the site. The main access point to the site opposite St. Catherines Estate needs to be upgraded as the access off the main road does nothing to promote or identify the location of the site currently. Ancillary services will be required as the tourism aspect of the site grows and the following items will be required as part of the development of the site. An allocated parking area (The extension of Rush Athletic Park facilities for Joint usage could be an option here.) Flag poles with national and appropriate flags indication the international importance of the site. A pedestrian crossing area on the main Rush/ Skerries Road Toilet Facilities Visitors / Interpretive centre Coffee / Tea shop Form a Liaison committee similar in make up to the Balleally committee in order to have contributions from the local community for the future works planned at the Drumanagh site Rush . Following on from the ideas of engaging the community in digs on site as outline in the draft document a similar idea like what happens in Swords Castle should be pursued. The route for the coastal way around the site should be included with any future planning applications relating to the site. Provision for displaying the artefacts already collected and stored in Museums should be made to be displayed either at or near the site on a regular or annual basis. The grass conservation method of cutting the grass on an annual basis should be pursued as the most practical grass treatment method. The Martello tower needs to restored to a workable and functioning building with the upper floor used as a viewing area.
